lunchtime at moma's
the british are coming, the british are coming!!

Anyway, my daddy took me shoppin, early bday gifts of course. (waaaay early) I got some new work dresses (I’ll show later) And I also picked up these super cute shorts from TopShop. I’ve been wanting some more high waisted shorts (because I’ll wear shorts all year round) but the ones at American Apparel are like right under my boobs! I’m actually very short waisted and AAALLL LEGS, so I need high waisted shorts that give an illusion of high waist without being granny pants. Plus Am Appy is soooo pricey IMO…These topshop shorts were 75 but I got them for 27!! (On sale plus, student discount when you show your ID, haha I mean keep your IDs ppl even if you graduate!!) I’ve already gotten compliments at work ;) I love them. The Ben Sherman is an early Hanukkah gift for dave (lawls…YES I SHOP VERY EARLY) ITS SO JOHN WATSON YOU GUYS..UNFFF
….sorry I’m hyped on meds..weeeeeeeeee!!!
Zapatos nuevos

The first order or business while living in new york. Snag some new sandals. I have one, yes, one pair of sassy black sandals that i wore to Mexico last year and has seen better days. Being in a quasi corporate environment i felt self conscious wearing shoes that carried the "sands" of time. So I treated myself to a new pairs (and an issue of Jille XD)

Even though i dream of dressing with platforms, i hate wearing heels all day and being a knee high to Godzilla. Small wedges and flats are fine with me! (these have a half inch wedge) Plus i love love love this ish of Jille. It features ( Like almost all july Japanese mags) blogger style, and my model crush ikumi got all curly like me..love love!

Part 1) Talk about the person who nominated you:
And after many moons of receiving this award I want to finally thank Tori for giving me this blogger award. She is an amazing person and inspiration to me. Even though our styles are not cookie cutter I still admire her evolution as a blogger!
Part 2) Talk about the aim of your blog:
The aim of my blog is to just be a sometimes fashion sometimes lifestyle, mostly personal blog, in my own hipsterish way. (haha) I would love to develop it to more of a fashion blog, but since I have noooooo photographer, for the time being its more personal. But I hope you all will stay with me if I do more fashion in the future :D
You’re supposed to nominate 9 ppl but since Tori and I have similar blogs we follow I nominate:
Veronica, Zoraida, Emma, Jayne, and Firipa!
much too hot

You guys were so sweet in the previous post! But never fear, dave and I {and fam not shown} DID make it out to liberty land. Dave looking like doctor who, and me looking like a child explored the land of ancestors before us. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE IT WAS ON TV, but it was exciting, history wise. Monumentally speaking, its ok. Its nothing to lose your mind over. I think its truly for what it stands for than what it really is. I spent the whole day being really hungry, denying myself "carnival food" (or any main attraction junk food) and waiting until we could eat something decent on the main land. Where we made it out to Brooklyn to my new favorite joint Lokal. Its super affordable and chic and DELICIOUS. tons of veterinarian choices and MUAH SUPERB. Plus rosemary fries are TO DIE...sadly i was too hungry to do any food snaps..
MY BAD YA'LL....we also did a late night run back to two boots and watch movie trailers until the wee hours of the morning. The next day I had to send my Panda back. :'( we rode together on the coach bus to Newark and said our goodbyes. I actually cried a bit because I really do love this man. I'm actually looking forward to going back to Chicago. I think I've been away from her long enough to miss her. But never fear...NYC is definitely my next permanent location.
Liberty Island Fail
So instead of feeling upset we bought tickets online (versus coming there at 8am for tickets *cough* not gunna happen *cough*) for the next day and watch adventure time at the hotel..
Silver lining ya'll...hope you guys had chill weekends. I house sat in brooklyn which was made decent! (my crop top is by bcbg ...i got it at nordstrom on a whim but im gunna a sell it, not very flattering on me i think. Wish it didn't flutter..:/)
soho'd
I am really learning to push myself more coordinate wise, I think this outfit could have used socks, creepers, maybe a sweater. But unfortunately ive been living out of a suitcase. However, no more excuses, I'm so inspired by Sara Mari, Tori, and Jenny whose style have drastically changed and defined in a years time I want to push myself MORE.
Anyway, in my new york excursion with dave, we decided to hit up Soho, Union Square and Washington Square Park after a Liberty Island fail (post about later) I was wearing a different coordinate earlier that day, but I love my new rum raisin shirt so much I put it back on!
I felt kind of like a bad tour guide not showing dave my favorite joints of NYC while he was here, so I ran him over to some famous parks & to do some shopping in soho, before the night was over! The only thing bought was some pants I got for him at Zara as a belated birthday treat! He did some window shopping at Ben Sherman but no buys. Since I was being kind I didn't want to spend my few hours with him watching me try on clothes, so we only focused on him. We also hit up my favorite pizza place in NYC two boots! Its italian-cajun, and delicious! Vegan & vegetarian friendly, as well. And it was founded my birthday year (87) so WHAT-WHAT!
Dave reeeeeaaally enjoyed two boots that we travel across town to go back the next day for four more slices XD...looking at all these pictures just remind me of how much of a time I had with him!
miss u dave ..and u too pizza
i am ninja, you are ninja *pic heavy*
The first objective on the agenda with my mad weekend with dave was to hit up NINJA! This super awesome restaurant in TriBeCa that is a NERDS DREAM! Once entering you are taken through a cave—yes, a cave. Then down an elevator into another cave where a ninja POPS out of darkness before you. (Scaring the living daylights out of you as well.) Keep in mind that the lux levels of this joint it at bare minimum for the human eye to see. It’s almost haunted house quality of darkness.
Anyway, our cave ninja tour guide asks if we want to take the pedestrian route or the ninja route, AND DUH COURSE dave and I took the ninja route, which was as mind blogging as a sketch by M.C. Escher. Then, we are once again scared by the same ninja who came from a hidden path and taken to our edo period style seating area. It’s completely private from other tables from the other side of the bridge. Yes there are BRIDGES, rivers, trees, rocks, it looks exactly like a dream version of Ginza. I feel like I’m in a movie. (its very chic and cool, not sad and loud like rainforest cafĂ© that smells of mold from fake mist)
From there our ninja host/waiter helps us with our four course meals (this is fine dining gentlemen! Not just fanfare) a ninja magician performs traditional style japanese magic tricks, and dave is constantly out witted by ninja who attempts to duel with him. IT IS GREAT. And the food was DIVINE.
As our first course we shared buffalo fish and chips (which was SUPER GOOD) and smoked trout (my first experience with trout, and it was BOMB if you like salmon you’ll like trout..((it was raw fyi)) )
Second course: delicious ninja star sushi
Third course: A GIANT crab cake on a daikon, yummy yummy yum yum.
Fourth course: Korean BBQ style beef (that dave ate cause I don’t eat meat)
Desert: Ninja star chocolate mousse, which I was brought in to perform a trick, as well, to turn a metal star into a chocolate mouse star WITH FIRE.
Many of the dishes are performed with a presentation. I certainly had my best dining experience since France, honestly. The ninja’s are friendly and fun, the drinks are good too! I had a non alcoholic mojito (since I’m on meds still) and dave has the saki sampler and a Sapporo, but dave also has ron swansons alcohol tolerance.
If you’re coming to new york and are looking for the NYC experience without all the patriotism or people, GO TO NINJA YA HIPSTERS…the food is bomb, the service is awesome, and the experience is one you’ll never forget!
