my trip to europe ♥♥

charli xcx: nuclear seasons (jammin to this to bring in the new year!)

Because this is what inspired me in 2011 (11 in total! hee hee...)

What a marvelous year! ♥♥

showroom

one of my goals while I was on break from school was to get my room together. IT NEEDED IT. I rearranged all my furniture to give it more of that "showroom" appeal. I wanted to make it easier and 'more fun' to get dressed in the morning. I wanted to be inspired by all my clothes and such, and I guess I felt like it would be cool to live in a boutique almost (haha)

Of course I am also surrounded by things that inspire me like my paintings (I did most of those, like the big bunny one) and japanese fashion magazines. I also have funny tchotchkes here and there given to me as gifts from my mother and brothers.

Changes I made: got a new bookshelf just for displaying shoes, got a clothing rack to laying out my favorite "go to" pieces, a bracelet display for my watches. I like a messy order. I don't like perfect order nor do I like insanity. I like that cozy lived in feeling, so let's say my room reflects a vintage boutique!

Thanks for coming over ;)

wild thing

velvet dress: vintage ice skater uniform
shoes: urban renewal
leggings: idk
bone necklace: mother
ring: beauty supply (lawls)

boom boom boom bing. this look really made my heart sing. I really felt like I belonged on the flintstones or in the wild. I actually wore this on my recent romantic christmas dinner out, and I was a bit frustrated that I could not snap my look before the sun went down. LUCKILY, I was able to snap this pictures in the perfect local: THE ZOO! Don't I fit right in? It looks like an editorial set! HAHAH!

I actually found this dress in the halloween costume area of the thrift store, but I'm sure it used to be an ice skaters uniform, whichever, its super cute, and ultra velvety. I've been lusting over a velvet mini for years. I had to add my own personal spin to it, so with my new spunky shorter hair I've been playing with Japanese sweet style pig tails. It's a little bit of 80s meets japan which is a wonder combo. The necklace is actually a hand me down from my mom's afro centric days in the early 90s~ fight the power!

So my look is Pebbles meets ice skater meets 80s meets japan meets goth....yeah that sounds about right.

Plus to top things off, Dave whisked me away to my favorite Indian restaurant in chicago! The Standard Indian Restaurant. I LOOOOOOOVE this place, and he even surprised me with sparkling wine. Dave is full of surprises this year! I love that he keeps me guessing ;)

I have to admit, I'M ADDICTED TO GLASSES! Who says boys don't make passes at girls with eyeglasses?? NOT TRUE, with each pair of glasses that I own, I assume new characters, some sassy others sweet, but always a bit off beat.

Now that the holidays are nearly through, its time to get a gift for yourself. I'm sure we all appreciate aunt mary's gift set of porcelain cats, but how about something a bit more useful?

GlassesUSA.com contacted me and told me about their amazing site with wicked cool eyeglasses online. You can order glasses on their site, with just a few clicks! They offer a 110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which sounds good to me as a price conscious student. I might have to snag myself a few more pairs because honestly, who can own too many pairs of eyeglasses, clearly not me!

tea 4 2

sweater: vintage
hat: vintage
chambray: french connection
chinos: bershka

Tea, not exactly, hot chocolate to be more precise. I met up with my old friend, whose in town for the holidays. It was so nice to see her and catch up.Also, because she is a hat lady like me, I had to show up my latest vintage find. IS THIS HAT NOT AMAZE? I absolutely love it. I saw it at a vintage shop by my house AND HAD TO HAS. I convinced santa to bring it for me for Christmas, and wallah her it is. I know its a little wild, but each day I feel my style getting weirder and weirder. I think I'm channeling my inner Eva Fontanelli, my newest muse.

How was everyone's holiday so far? Get what you wanted? I just wanted to spend it with friends and family, and I think I may have gotten my wish this year.

PS. I got a hair cut, IT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I know its sad to see the curls hit the floor, BUT I FEEL SO SPUNKY with my new hair, can't wait to show you what I've been up too!

although its been said

many times, many ways

merry christmas, to you

light up chicago

so happy that my pictures are back! that was a scare for a moment there, but no worries, went pro...got my stuff back! PHEW...

Anyways, I thought it would be a wonderful way to kick of this christmas eve with some of my photos of lights around the city. I'll admit, I'm like a child when it comes to shiny things and I love love love christmas lights!

Places photographed: N. Michigan Ave, Zoo lights at Lincoln Park, my Parisian inspired tree, and MY AMAZEBALLS HOMEMADE MELTED SNOWMAN COOKIES HEEHEE

Happy Holidays! Hope your enjoying it with those you love, or stuff you love haha! I'm always with my family in Chicago, for me, the holidays are ALL YEAR ROUND..XD

pendleton sweater: vintage via mom
corduroy shorts: f21
plum tights: gift
shoes: urban outfitters (blk fri! $5!)

Its nearly christmas! I cannot believe it! As I said yesterday, I'm never ready, I'm always so humbugerious, because of the commercialism of the holiday, then when I finally get in the mood, its swiped away from me! Oh deer!

I got my gifts wrapped up yesterday and put them under the tree, you should have seen my family's faces haha! They could not wait to open them. I love the anticipation, the moments shared. Even if the gifts arent as crazy as a barbie dream house, I'm all about thoughtfulness.

Such as my lovely new sweater, my mom knows that I am OBSESSED with pendleton prints, and she got me this lovely vintage sweater because she randomly gives me things as any mother does. She also got me these tights! I feel rather spoiled. I can't stop wearing either, they are both so comfy , cozy and the perfect winter color scheme.

Oh and its the first day of winter (boo)! And the shortest day of the year, make of the most of it! I think I will by staying inside and drinking cocoa...sounds like a plan ;) ♥

i just popped in to say hey! things are getting so busy my way, but one of my favorite indulgences is looking at the lights in the city. Although there isn't much to do here, I love the merchandise mart of Chicago. Fun factoid, did you know the building is so big, it has it own zip code? Cray cray.

I am one for anxiety and I can't believe christmas is nearly through, i'm never ready and then when it's here i never want it to be over! ah well~

Also, thanks for the amazing feedback on the last post. Its wonderful what can generate from a spur of a moment shoot! PLUS I WAS FEATURED IN FEATHER MAGAZINES LOOK OF THE DAY, tres cool!

Chicago has some lovely little nuggets of architecture around its vast landscape. It almost bittersweet to be in love with the places that chicago can no longer afford--the places chicago has looong forgot. I mean, who doesn't love hanging out in front of an abandoned hospital on the west siiiiiiide. Well actually Dave and I stopped here on the way to the upper west side for tacos (aka wicker park) but I literally made him pull over because

A) this place is badass
B) when inspiration strikes...

I was thoroughly pleased with this shoot. (It was really hard picking out the best pics!) It was right before dusk so the lighting was just superb, and it was before rush hour so there was enough people at work for me not to feel like I was going to die and be dragged until this abandoned monster.

I mean its cool, but hella scary.

hey guys
