inspo: Sondra's Closet

Sondra's Dorm Closet

Sondra huxtable, often the forgotten one. Brought in a few episodes after the pilot as a new character in the Cosby Show. Fresh faced Sabrina LeBeauf played Princeton Law Student, Sondra, with such big sister ease. I always wished she was my big sister in real life. A girl I could admire, and a cute boyfriend to boot! Sondra and Alvin remind me so much of me and David that it's ridiculous!

It wasn't until recently that I started to notice her style. Sure, there are some hits and misses, but if she was my big sister who went off to college, I would definitely raid her closet while she was out! (With more chambray shirts than a Madewell secret sale!) Sensible, chic, and so Ivy League. You know she would have totally been going to Vampire Weekend concerts when she came home to Brooklyn during her semester breaks. Her look is Madewell meets American Apparel, what's not to love? And her hair is also pretty amazing, I can see Chloe Sevigny shivering in jealousy.

(btw I got all my images from the AWESOME BLOG Huxtable Hotness, if you love these kids as much as I do...YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY check that blog out.)

I've spent years, literally YEARS worshiping, Denise Huxtable. BUT WHO FRIGGIN NEW that it was Vanessa that had been calling my name all this time. I was watching an episode the other day with my mom and my mom mentioned that I dressed a lot like Vanessa, and I was like...OMG YOUR RIGHT...

I mean home girl was all about the silky shirts, the skinny jeans, funky eyewear & accessories, and plus...BIG HAIR. The bigger, the better. And how could we forget (forgive?) her iconic Africa box top. Cleary the Cosby kids never got it wrong...EVER! So when I jumped out the shower, I decided to challenge myself and be all Vanessa! I found this hilariously amazing silk shirt with these wild mix-matched buttons that are SO ME and I also found this vest that is very "my so called life". I added my velvet riding leggings and red flats, and WALLAH! I feel 80s meets 90s-- a very staple look of mine! I loved this look so much, I had to dance like Tempestt danced! (ps im not a very good dancer :T)

PLUS, looky look guys, I just got my new BonLook glasses, AND OMGLOVE, I like these ones soooooo much more than my older ones. They are softer and more me! Thank you BonLook for working with me! I can't take these off! I love 'em!

Who wasn't influenced by Denise Huxtable growing up. I know I wished she was my big sister so I can raid her closet and she could take me shopping across Brooklyn. With her airy presence and jack of all trades personality, I closely identified with Denise, and even when I go out with my mom she always says "come on ms. huxtable..." Here's how you can achieve this iconic look in your own way. Don't forget the pudding.
