Oh yeah....FNO...

(picture 1, someone really blew it with the date, picture 3..LOVE HER HAIIIR!!!)

dress: vintage
mint shirt: need supply
socks: topshop
heels: my mom's because I have like...no heels...

Never got to show you guys what I did/wore for FNO Chicago. The verdict? Boring as usual. In the midwest its just a shopping ploy and throwing 10-15% off to shopaholics as if thats a real discount! Call me when its 50%. Better yet call me come black friday. I left the FNO festivities to head out to an office party celebrating one of our magazines second annerversarie. The location was rad, it look like an old apartment complex from the 20s. And everyone really liked my dress! Proenza? Nope...Thrifted?Yep....

You know me.

wanna hang out this weekend?

(all the cool folks I met this summer. Including Tres Awesome)

Hey guys, want to get some fall vintage shopping in? Come visit me THIS WEEKEND at the Randolph Street Market in Chicago. It's located at 1340 W. Washington, Chicago, IL and its SAT from 10-6 and SUN from 10-5. I'll be inside plumbers hall all weekend. I hope to see you there!

No one knows how happy I am that it's fall. I can finally start layering, dressing the way I want to dress, and wear muted colors without looking like a plumb fool! I'm also finding more delight in putting together the little details in my outfits, from brooches to scarves...expect to see a lot of them. I bought this shirt at a vintage sale during 2nd fridays in Pilsen. It's already been placed in immediate rotation. I love the oversized slinky fit. Yet I don't look like I'm drowning in it. If you live in the city you should definitely check out 2nd Fridays. Its a 3 block long open gallery session. You get to rub elbows with some of Chicago greatest indie artists, and there's also free food and wine. So on those words alone you should already be planning to come in October. I lived in that area for nearly 6 years and this is the first time I've gone. Expect me to be a regular there from now on.

PS...Speaking of vintage and sales, I'll be selling some of my greatest vintage finds this Sat + Sun from 10-6 at the Randolph Street Market, more details on that tomorrow!

love lost

(I'm wearing a vintage dress, necklace borrowed from my mother, and glasses from Target)

Here I am, snapped again! Gosh these pictures are old. I actually had a whole post planned for these but UNFORTUNATELY, they got lost because Dave's little cousin borrowed his SD card and wiped it out. FORTUNATELY this photography company was able to capture me and Dave at our best! The photographer was such a cutie as well! He really made everyone feel so comfortable unlike some people I've worked with who just make the idea of having your picture captured for a life time all more awkward.

Fun factoid of the day, I actually won my tickets to this event. If was for fashion for a cause hosted by my girl Tres Awesome for a film called Sole Survivor that documents the lives of survivors of plane crashes. The film is really deep, and very moving, it felt like a shame to have so much fun dancing to chaka khan! Just makes you grateful for life I guess.

There was also a fund raising part of this event wear I won a pretty reckless necklace from local designer (and friend) Ashley Drapes. I haven't figured out how to wear it yet, but I'm stoked, and still dancing...

stylin and profilen'

bright blue jeans: dollhouse
orangesicle blouse: lush
candy blue necklace: mother's
booties: vintage

not really sure what stylin & profilen' means, but my parents used to say it a lot so..., I suppose it means something...

Anyway, I can't believe it's already been two weeks almost three since I had my styling event with Madewell! It feels as though my entire life has become one hazy dream. It really was a great kick off to the summer. I got to hang out with my girl Jo who is the event planner for the store and teh sweetest thang! We ate macarons, drunk goose island root beers, and I got to style all my readers and new friends. One girl expressed that this is the most fun she had in a while and that really filled my heart with joy! It's nice to be able to put a little happiness into people's lives and inspire them through a little thing called blogging. Who knew...

On top of styling some folks I also got to snag a bunch of pieces for work! (Much needed...what do you MEAN I can't wear hot shorty shorts to work :P) I can't wait to be able to have the opportunity to do a styling event like this again! It was so much fun, and great day to just shop and get out the heat. Or the cold, or whatever Chicago decides to feel that day.......

oh and hello new friends! I know I've been busy busy! hopefully I'll get the hang of blogging + working asap! :D UNTIL NEXT TIME...

you got it made

I love Madewell's effortless cool. The slouchy-ness, the playfulness, the bold statement colors juxtaposed to the classic cuts. Everything feels so easy and breezy, just throw it on and you're out the door. I love all the summery looks they have created, makes me want to sit on a porch and suck on a bomb pop on a hot summer day. Or maybe I want to go on a bike ride on the lakeshore. Or how about getting up while its still cool and picking up fresh flowers from the market to brighten up my home.

Whatever summer idea I have, I can image myself doing it in Madewell, ah don't you think they are just so dreamy?  Lets talk about it tomorrow at the event I'm hosting! I hope to see you there!

I'm just hanging on here with my moms after a whirlwind weekend in NYC. I had to make an urgent visit for some private matters ( though I did get some shopping done!) but more about that later. Last night I made dinner for my mother and we watched her favorite show over a glass of wine--fashion star.

I think we make the best critics choosing who should stay and who should, one of my girls who sadly is no longer there, is a chicago fashion star of her own, Barbara Bates. She invited me to come down to her studio last week, and of course it was da bomb! (yes...THE BOMB) I was able to see her work first hand and rub elbows with all the cool kids like Curvatude and Afrobella. Whenever I get invited to events I always debate on what should I wear, should I go chic blogger style or just be my ol weird self. Of course I choose the ladder, have we just met? (and if we have...nice to meet you ;) )

As always I'm channeling my inner late 80s early 90s new yorker....always...I feel like Barbara Bates enjoyed my look, hee hee... we even got to talk glasses! She has a little talk with us and her story is just so powerful. She challenges me to keep pushing towards my dreams...After going to the Bates studio, I am inspired to keep striving for the best.

hey guys
