A or B?

At this point of my life I no longer miss school. I mean I miss the idea of a new year, a fresh start, a chance to become a better me, who doesn't love second chances? (I'm currently getting my third chance unpacking and settling in NYC!) But hours of design homework, I don't miss much. I do however miss having the parental excuse to take me shopping for new clothes and new glasses. I remember rainy days of sitting in the optometrist's office and looking through old People magazines. I remember having wind blown in my eye, looking at images of a barn becoming closer or farther. And having a doctor's voice ask me if "this" or if "this one" was better. A or B? A o B? (Plus am I the only one who worries I'm going to choose the wrong prescription?!)

Recently I've been playing with some fall looking and scouting online a bit for new glasses, and debating if it's time to add a new set to my collection. I never toss out an old pair I just add them to the collection I have. (which is quiet a few believe it or not) Bonlook always has been an online favorite of mine. And I was considering trying a new shape? I always go round, but is it time for adding some squares to the mix? We shall see...

I had the chance to get a sneak peek at Veer Fall 2013 lookbook, and I'm already in love. It should come as no surprise to you all that I love tomboy style. And looking through Veer's lookbook only makes me love it MORE! Veer is a curated online boutique that finds the best of women's and men's fashion blurring the line between styles. Plus they are all about fit, so if you're not necessarily "boy shaped" but you love boys clothes, this is the place for you! I'm literally counting down the days until they open! WHICH IS THE DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! I've been dying for some drop waist pants recently. I think is after so many years of Japanese street mags, I'M FINALLY CONVINCED! JE VEUX DROP CROTCH! JE VEUX VEER (say that 5xs fast..)

I was contacted by Rebecca, the designer of Riyka the other day. She wanted to tell me about her collection, Riyka. Based out of London (by way of Tel Aviv), this husband and wife duo create a collection that is graphically inclined and a little tomboy. All I can say was "wow" I really love the use of colors and lines here. Even though I live a Batman-esque life (by day I'm a graphic designer by night I'm an actor) the designer in me is always pleased by the use of bold colors and lines. (Not surprised with some of the badass Bauhaus design that comes out of Tel Aviv) I like how simple this collection is. Plus who doesn't love a bit of girl meets boy? Despite the pops of yellow and orange this Riyka F/W collection reminds me of my uniform days for back to school.

As Chicago chills out, I'm reminiscent of wearing a fresh pair of navy leggings with my sweater vest and shirt buttoned up. I was probably THE ONLY CHILD IN MY SCHOOL who loved her uniform. The uniform allowed me to be creative in other forms. Plus I always used my free time to start some business or another (I've done everything from make candy to seasoned bath salts..!) For me a classic frees the mind for other activities. Maybe that's why I basically dress the same everyday. photo riyka5_zps6e264e5e.jpg photo riyka3_zps41467d4e.jpg photo riyka9_zpseb233871.jpg photo riyka4_zps4931b0a2.jpg
