Wore this outfit on my way to see Blue Jasmine, and my friend told me I looked very Woody Allen esque, which is fantastic in my book. I even kinda look like this Woody Allen post I did a while back.

I really enjoyed this movie, and surprising connected with Jasmine. It kind of reminded me of who I was as a kid, and during the chat room days I could pretend to be whoever I wanted to be than the person I was. The person I was lived on the south side of chicago and got bullied constantly, but the person online could be a kid from Egypt or Italy, no one really cared to back check, because we were all pretending. The escape felt good for a while, but as I got older I learned I can't hide from who I am, I can only direct the person I will become. Whenever I have a great change I always try to "reinvent" myself. Whether it was the fresh start of a school year, starting a new job, or like now moving to a new city. But after living in New York for a month now, I realized I don't want to change the person that I am. I like myself, I like my family, I like where I come from. Why lie?

mansome mondays: being woody

being woody

I thought I start a new "theme" post day because I've noticed how much I am getting into men's fashion (for women) sometimes its nice to see tomboy style, or "men for women" wear. But like looking at what the boys have on. There's a sense of unknown territory when you look through the pages of a men's fashion mag, everything is tailored and finesse. With men for women style, it always changes and its also sometimes can be a little trendier (or sluttier) than I like.

To kick off mansome mondays, I wanted to share some inspiration from the great Woody Allen. I love how his style never really changes. No matter the decade, it's always pleated pants, button down, oxford. With a blazer or pullover to complete. I realized how much I love his style when I was drooling of Anjelica Huston & Diane Keaton in Manhattan Murder Mystery. He was getting as equal pause time as the ladies, plus he has to have some influence on all the great female style throughout his films. Plus you can always add a feminine touch with tailoring and fit, a scarf or a hint of sparkle like diamond stud earrings. I really adore how Allen's style has become classic versus dated, I really hope to achieve that as I grow older.

Lazy Sundays call for lurking on the pages of the Miss Moss blog, looking at all the lovely things. Her blog is in the beautiful world between Tumblr and Pinterest. Not as many weddings on Pinterest, and rarely as many naked bodies like on Tumblr. Through her blog I discovered the UK brand Toast. And with their Spring collection inspired by all things Diane Keaton I have never been in love so strongly like this...

Does someone want to buy me everything? I think this calls for Satchmo to serenade you through this collection

I watched Manhattan last night, like it much better than Annie Hall. SORRY...it's just, maybe too much hype? I kind of want to watch it again tonight. It's on netflix and Diane Keaton has a PERM, CURLY HAIR PERM. It all over marvelous, everyone outfits are on point, and the story line grabs your heart from the moment it opens with fireworks on the hudson juxtapose to Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

This is my attempt ( of many more attempts) of having more of that Woody Allen movie character appeal. I always wished there was a prominent back female character in any of his films, but alas there isn't...so I just pretend that I am in one myself. Isn't that the point of having an imagination?

It was really dark out when I took these, but fortunately Dave was able to snap them right before the sun set. I now kind of regret not getting an SLR of black friday, but I did enjoy sleeping....

inspo: Annie Hall

Modern Day, Annie Hall

Ok, I finally watched Annie Hall. After years of people telling me "IT WILL CHANGE MY LIFE" I finally watched it, and my verdict....it was ok.

I had that same feeling in my heart as I did when I finally saw Breakfast at Tiffany's. And aire of disappointment (though I do believe I want to watch it again...) I LOVE Funny Face, I DIE FOR Hannah and Her Sisters, but these so called American classics, were just ok...

Regardless if I loved the film or not, the clothes OH THE CLOTHES, were great! It was so nice to watch the film versus Googling "Annie Hall" to see all these inspirational pieces.

Again, high waists, button ups, jackets, I only hope to be as crazy as Diane Keaton when I grow up! Plus I love it when characters wear the same clothes, Annie had her classic oxford she wore time and time again!

Oh and a young Jeff Goldblum, yes yes please! Plus, the scene of Annie Hall buying a cat book, can I be her yet? If Annie Hall lived today, she'd be the coolest blogger around.

(not Annie Hall, but AMERICAN APPAREL MODEL YES...love her room too! haha!)

hey guys
