mad about plaid

cardigan: vintage
demin shirt: old navy (yes. old navy)
pants: uniqlo
loafers: bass
glasses: target

This outfit sort of came together on its own. This sweater I thrifted in the fall and was ready to give away when I realized it match perfectly with these uniqlo drawstring pants I snatched up during my trips to NYC. It was a fun look to frolic in this spring in head, versus the spring in reality. Because after a few hours of frolicking, I was frozen--chilled to the bone. And technically its supposed to be spring tomorrow? Lies...

elementary, my dear

overcoat: vintage
gold kitty pins: vintage
pants/belt/silk blouse: vintage
sweater: american apparel
shoes: bass
glasses: bonlook

Whose not a fan of Mr. Holmes? From BBC television, to films, to books I read as a child, I've always been a fan of Sherlock. On Christmas Eve after donating some clothes at my local thrift, I spotted this overcoat that was reminiscent of the classic Sherlock cloak. I absolutely had to have it. Plus since my mom was feeling the holiday spirit, she snatched it up for me (yays). It's not the warmest of winter wears, but with the right amount of layer it's perfect. Plus the brown plaid is so yummy, like a bounty of chocolate candy. AND, clearly it was made in the 70s-80s because these shoulder pads are out of this world.

Of course, I had to wear it with my other favorite color (all together now..."oxblood") and these cute little vintage gold kitty pins Dave bought me for Christmas. I'm not one to hold on to gifts, if you give my something I usually have it on the next day, haha. Lets say my holidays were filled with wines, chocolates, vintage gifts, kitty cats, and good reads. Plus a fun movie or two. Oh why must the holidays come to an end? I guess its only elementary.

stripes on stripes

Stripe Jacket: American Apparel
Everything else: Vintage
Shoes: Bass Wayfayer loafer

How lucky that when I took these pictures I matched the awnings of the windows behind me. It really was just a matter of luck, this was not preplanned! Or was it?

I recently got this jacket from American Apparel, and I am in absolute love with it, I know that it is slightly springy, but with the burgundy stripes, I feel like it can easily be layered to wear all year round. Plus, I feel like it the perfect match of gamine and grandma, just my taste!

I think I may have went a little pattern crazy, but what better way to cheer yourself up on a cloudy autumn's eve? People tell me I always dress very "holiday" so I guess that's a good sign. And can we say happy feet? I finally got my Bass loafers, and I am in looooooove. Got them 60% off at the outlet mall, even better! I don't think I can go back to plastic shoes. NEVER AGAIN!

bare necessi-feet

bare necessi-feet

this is no longer about want, but a need. I have stomped out the life of nearly all of my shoes, leaving nothing left but a shell that slightly resembles what the shoe once looked like. My shoes are so broke down, there's holes in the soles, and theirs little to no support that I recently got tendentious. I've been lucky and scored some great vintage shoes for my size 9/10 foot, but if you have big feet like me you know how hard it is to find shoes that

A. fit
B. are comfortable

Here's some pairs I've been dreaming of that aren't too far off budget. Plus I hear great things from Bass, and see all my blogger friends wearing them for years on end.

I don't want just trendy shoes, I want shoes that will last longer enough for my future daughter to play dress up in, and eventually borrow them when she's feeling "retro"

is that too much to ask?

(as for trendy shoes I don't need, these tabitha simmons flats are just too sweet!)

hey guys
