mama needs a new pair of shoes

Before I moved to NYC I had NO SHOES, okay that may be an overstatement, but I have a hole in my last pair of comfortable shoes, and a pair of boots, SO I was a little nervous about skipping around town with almost no shoes. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I'm not they kind of girl who had 500 pairs I land around 10, MAYBE 10, but I usually settle at wearing the same 3 to their poor poor deaths.

Luckily I found not just one but TWO lovely pairs of Cole Haan shoes on SALE!! ACK! I love them sooooo! I wore them throughout fashion week and people would compliment them constantly! They're just "funky" enough without being like "ok so trendy you won't get much wear" but not so run of the mill they don't have that deisnger edge!

U N F O R T U N A T E L Y the saddle shoes HURT like the dickens! SO I'm selling them! My big feet are just too big no matter how much I squeeze (I'm basically a 10 :/) !!! So if you're interested today is the last day they'll be on ebays! >Here<

this is no longer about want, but a need. I have stomped out the life of nearly all of my shoes, leaving nothing left but a shell that slightly resembles what the shoe once looked like. My shoes are so broke down, there's holes in the soles, and theirs little to no support that I recently got tendentious. I've been lucky and scored some great vintage shoes for my size 9/10 foot, but if you have big feet like me you know how hard it is to find shoes that

A. fit
B. are comfortable

Here's some pairs I've been dreaming of that aren't too far off budget. Plus I hear great things from Bass, and see all my blogger friends wearing them for years on end.

I don't want just trendy shoes, I want shoes that will last longer enough for my future daughter to play dress up in, and eventually borrow them when she's feeling "retro"

is that too much to ask?

Zapatos nuevos

The first order or business while living in new york. Snag some new sandals. I have one, yes, one pair of sassy black sandals that i wore to Mexico last year and has seen better days. Being in a quasi corporate environment i felt self conscious wearing shoes that carried the "sands" of time. So I treated myself to a new pairs (and an issue of Jille XD)

Even though i dream of dressing with platforms, i hate wearing heels all day and being a knee high to Godzilla. Small wedges and flats are fine with me! (these have a half inch wedge) Plus i love love love this ish of Jille. It features ( Like almost all july Japanese mags) blogger style, and my model crush ikumi got all curly like me..love love!

And after many moons of receiving this award I want to finally thank Tori for giving me this blogger award. She is an amazing person and inspiration to me. Even though our styles are not cookie cutter I still admire her evolution as a blogger!

The aim of my blog is to just be a sometimes fashion sometimes lifestyle, mostly personal blog, in my own hipsterish way. (haha) I would love to develop it to more of a fashion blog, but since I have noooooo photographer, for the time being its more personal. But I hope you all will stay with me if I do more fashion in the future :D

SUMMER COLDS ARE ZEE WORST

home for your feet...

I've slowly been getting out of my funk, its taking longer than usual. I think it slightly has to do with cabin fever. NEEDS TO GET OUTS DA HAUUS, i might go exploring today. 'Tis tuesday and the MCA has its free day today...we'll see, i'm not dressed for the museum. Do you still "get dressed" to go places these days? I do, maybe its my french and/or southern upbringing, but some places you don't go looking like a hot mess, and a mess of hotness I am today. So i think I'll make an effort to go to the Art Institute on Thursday...

Music has definitely been my vice this week. Music and films. I rarely take time for myself to do absolutely nothing. I always feel like I'm working, whether it be personal projects or at work work. I rarely have time to paint my nails. So I took time to watch Whip It again. I really like that movie. It made me cry. Movies about mother daughter relationships always make me cry because as much as your mom makes you outraged, you'd do anything for her.

Not all has been "bad" or "sad" or "meh" I did get new shoes. I really needed new shoes, desperately. The steve madden combat boots i have had are dying dying.

They have wholes in the bottom, and etc. They aren't talking but something happened to the bottom where it makes my arch of my right foot numb. IDK...so new shoes it is!

Luckily I found these bastards at UO for $20, not bad for real suede, they are one of my favorite colours (oatmeal) and have that tomboyish look. They did have them in magenta which the old me would have liked but this new me was like "too loud" and I want something to go with all my coordinates. I cannot wait to wear them with my knee highs scrunched down (sorta like this look in VIVI 3/2011)

I need to suede prep them before I really wear them, so in the meantime I've been wearing another pair of torn boots that don't at least hurt my feet. I hope these new ones will last until the big snow fall of 2012. I want some really nice leather boots, but I don't have enough money to drop for it right now, so these are a great shoe for the meantime, and they are kinda springy as well. I think so.... (my mom would disagree.....)

ps. i believe its time of a new mixtape. full of beach house cause beach house is perfect escaping music.
