How many posts did I make in January? Almost None? Jeez, I know people are always like "bloggers don't apologize!" But I will apologize regardless. I am grateful for all of you guys because without your support I would just be some strangely dressed girl running around the mean streets of Chicago all by my lonesome. But you guys keep my strong! Thats for hanging tight while I went on two vacations, work devoured me, and got multiple viruses along the way!

If you follow me on instagram (which if you don't YOU SHOULD) I went to New York on a fun girls + boy trip a few weekends back! It was totally fun and a much needed break from the daily grind. I made this awesome 70s "virgo" necklace at a DIY jewelry shop called Brooklyn Charm... But so far I already lost it (D'OH) but I felt so cool and 70s with it. Since its been cold I haven't been up to dressing up lately. When your throats on fire, it 1 degree outside, and you have work piling up, the last thing you care about is cool fashionable you are. It's the cold hard truth. That's how those tabloid magazine get those awesome shots of Diane Kruger looking "jus lyke us!", because somedays you can't always be fierce (unless you're Beyonce)

To sunlight, warmer weather, and hibernating naps!

a quick jaunt

As I said earlier, I had to make a quick trip to NYC for some urgent matters. My brother came with for support and overall we kinda had a blast! He hasn't nearly spent as much time in the big city as I. When my mom took trips for work I would take off school to tag along, and even as my career develops I am constantly there.

I took him to all my favorite haunts such as two boots pizza, and union square. And while he was napping I did my shopping! Trololo! I made him take some corny pictures for mom as well. She was smitten with the idea of me taking a little trip with my brother. She's constantly afraid NY will chew me up and spit me out. But I ♥ NY, why would it do that??

Also, I don't normally do hauls, BUT these are my little NYC treats, 2 shirts from american apparel outlet! (love that place) Japanese magazines from Kinokuniya (including an Ikumi model book, LOVE HER) Some new glasses, Utz potatoe chips (REPRESENT) and Tokyo & New York Fashion collection book from S/S 1991!!!! GAWD DONT YOU LOVE? (I regret saying that) I seriously died for this book. I even got to haggle the price down. SO MUCH INSPO, I mean it's not only NYC fashion week but retro Japanese???!! So much...incredible-ness....I will scan some better pictures soonish!

sally albright on acid

After leaving new york I find myself obsessed with the culture again. Watching late 80s early 90s sitcoms and movies, one of my favorites aforementioned is When Harry Met Sally. I mean this movie is one of the forefathers of back and forth banter and story lines about nothing.

One of the things I adore about this movie, besides the fact that it takes place in glorious Manhattan in the 80s, is the lovable Billy Crystal. Despite recent terms, Crystal is so cute in this film, so different than romcoms today where the leading man needs to be nothing more than a piece of dumb meat.

But beyond Billy, my all time favorite aspect of WHMS is...well...Sally's clothes. I mean c'mon she's predates Elaine Benes and follows in suit of Diane Keaton. She's loveable, anal, all around quirky, and her sense of style is TO DIE. She goes from Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa to full blown Annie Hall in 12 years time. Her curls are big as her smile, and I can't help but think I was subliminally influences by her as a child watching this film on late Saturday nights on WGN.

I took the ideas of Ms. Albright's clothing, modernized it a bit, and made it ready for Spring. But I kept all the classics in tow--hats, high waists, blouses, sweaters in summer, and of course oxfords. Even though Harry told Sally she would look much lovelier in dresses, I love how Sally holds true to herself in classic Katherine Hepburn way. If a guy doesn't love you this quirky, he'll never love you.

I'm feeling good today, and since I have this wild surplus of time, I DECIDED TO BLOG! I miss it so much, if you follow my twitter I am still shopping still dressing up regardless if I I have time to snap it professionally! Back tracking a little bit to my trip to NYC this spring. I didn't get to do as many outfit snaps I had initially planned (working on a few projects instead) BUT my first day there I was able to run over to Washington Square Park, where I basically spent my whole summer last year. How lucky that we had that freak heat wave? I was able to walk around in nothing more than a tshirt and classic mom jeans. What could be better?

Oh maybe getting a totally delicious sandwich from Brad's on NYU campus, I LOVE IT THERE!

feverishly packing

It's sort of nerve wrecking packing for NYC, I mean....you kind of have this desire that you want everything to be absolutely PERFECT, and un/fortunately the weather has been SPECTACULAR,I actually hate planning what I'm going to wear, I like to see how I feel, but since I want to literally shop till I drop I can't bring a whole bunch of clothes with me. I'm not excited to bust out my summer clothes (curse this winter weight! IM NOT READ FOR YOU SHORT SHORTS...lol) but I can still make it work! haha! I'm going to be all bright and celestial, also want be a be a bit more daring than I am in the Chi. OH IM TOO EXCITED also SUPER EXCITED to see one of my very best friends Hermela, we have a project coming up, but shhhhh its on the d/l!! I'm leaving at the BUTT CRACK of dawn tomorrow, to enjoy a 5 day trip to the Empire State. How NYC, its been much too long ;)

jammin to this whilst I iron TONS OF CLOTHES...might as well dance...

ghost town

i'm sure you all have been wondering where i've been, and I took a short vacation to my grandparents house. and to see other family. my dad and my brother came to pick me up from nyc (NOOOOO) and drove us all out to pittsburgh to see the fam. I was asking my father while we were on route that how come it seems that when you go visit your family the town always seems so sleepy and small. He wasn't sure why it seemed that way either, but we both agreed that we (my dad, my siblings, and I) are all very much city kids. It was great seeing all of them, and being made fun of by cousins and such. When i make my grand journey to NYC permanently, it will be nice to be much closer to them. Hopefully we can spend more time together.

never will forget going to the mall with my grandparents in new castle, and seeing around 10 cars in the parking lot, and my grandfather remarking "oh its really crowded today, must be a sale" haha, very different than the big apple.

taxi doors

(tax cab-vampire weekend)

I was able to enjoy the world of event planning for a brief moment at work yesterday. It was real fun seeing that industry. I think that’s one thing I like working for a company that isn’t just design, but digital, and event planning, and sales. It allows me to see all fields and make sure I make the best choice for my life.

We were setting up for a boat cruise for some clients. On the way we picked up these SUPER CUTE cookies from Eleni’s in Chelsea! Totally worth the avenues over!! I had had haaaaad to score me one, I felt like a taxi deemed appropriate since it’s my last week here! Oh btw the captain of our cruise was TOTALL ADORABLE…haha I had to sneak a pic of him, and make this meme..

LAWLS I’m so annoying. ARNT MY DESINE SKILLZ AMAZEBALLS?
Things are doing better, boys R still gross. Thanks for your love, lovers!

Liberty Island Fail

(so close but so far away....)

Dave and i tried to hit up liberty island on a whim after getting sushi. Sadly tickets sell out fast and to get up to the crown you need to buy tickets 2 months in advanced...AT LEAST ...i felt really bad and like a terrible host for not allowing dave to see NYC hot spots...and despite coming to nyc time after time ive never seen liberty either ...

So instead of feeling upset we bought tickets online (versus coming there at 8am for tickets *cough* not gunna happen *cough*) for the next day and watch adventure time at the hotel..

Silver lining ya'll...hope you guys had chill weekends. I house sat in brooklyn which was made decent! (my crop top is by bcbg ...i got it at nordstrom on a whim but im gunna a sell it, not very flattering on me i think. Wish it didn't flutter..:/)

soho'd

(rum raisin chiffon shirt, charlotte russe high waisted short, vintage loafers)

I am really learning to push myself more coordinate wise, I think this outfit could have used socks, creepers, maybe a sweater. But unfortunately ive been living out of a suitcase. However, no more excuses, I'm so inspired by Sara Mari, Tori, and Jenny whose style have drastically changed and defined in a years time I want to push myself MORE.

Anyway, in my new york excursion with dave, we decided to hit up Soho, Union Square and Washington Square Park after a Liberty Island fail (post about later) I was wearing a different coordinate earlier that day, but I love my new rum raisin shirt so much I put it back on!

I felt kind of like a bad tour guide not showing dave my favorite joints of NYC while he was here, so I ran him over to some famous parks & to do some shopping in soho, before the night was over! The only thing bought was some pants I got for him at Zara as a belated birthday treat! He did some window shopping at Ben Sherman but no buys. Since I was being kind I didn't want to spend my few hours with him watching me try on clothes, so we only focused on him. We also hit up my favorite pizza place in NYC two boots! Its italian-cajun, and delicious! Vegan & vegetarian friendly, as well. And it was founded my birthday year (87) so WHAT-WHAT!

Dave reeeeeaaally enjoyed two boots that we travel across town to go back the next day for four more slices XD...looking at all these pictures just remind me of how much of a time I had with him!

miss u dave ..and u too pizza

hey guys
