There Will Be Oxblood

Maybe its the cool weather, maybe its those new waves music videos, maybe its the fact that I've been marathoning Paul Dano films, or that Paul Thomas Anderson premiered "The Master" at the Music Box last Thursday.

Whatever it is, all I know is that I am undoubtedly obsessed with oxblood. Call it what you like, burgundy, mauve, rose, dark red, raisin...all I know is that in the words of George Costanza "I would drape myself in it if it were socially acceptable" It looks ravishing against my skin tone and puts me at complete peace. I love it, i want to wear it everyday.

The weather has been forgiving to me enough to let me wear pants and long sleeves. I know i am constantly hearing gripes from people complaining about how cold it has become (same people who complained about the unforgiving heat wave a few weeks back) but i am in love. I'm less stressed, I'm more active, and I'm pleasantly dressed what more could a girl want. 100+ degree weather, no thanks....sweater weather...yes please and thank you!

Now excuse me while I go drink someone's milkshake

dairy queen

coat: vintage
nautical shirt: madewell
mustard skirt: UO
plum tights: jcpenny
loafers: F21

By my parents home there's an traditional style dairy queen that's only open in the summer-early fall. When its closed it showcases a bold wooden american flag that seems more jasper john than americana. Leave it to me to find the bold pop art in the simplest non intentional ways. Regardless it made an awesome backdrop to stripey bold lipped look. Which I insisted dave to pull over and shoot here. It turned out to be the perfect local before we munched on veggie lo mein....AND YES, this is that new coat I've been wanting.

I actually got it for christmas, and I am so pleased. It's vintage and SUPER WARM, plus unlike most brown coats, mother dearest knew to go a little lighter than my natural skin tone that most brown coats are. No one wants to be completely camouflaged in their coats. And I am obsessed with classic nudes this year!

And taking some notes from the classic calivintage jump, I decided to have more fun in my photos and take myself less seriously. I mean I never take myself seriously, I am such a dork! But I love fashion! Who says there can't be dorky fashionista??!!!

anyway...I hope this photoshoot brought out your sense of pride, if not for the flag at least for the cute small establishments that give us the comforts of home.

life is a highway

you win some you lose some. and any blogger knows when it comes to photography, well, sometimes you can't always win. I dress up almost everyday for you guys, but there's some things I learned about blogging. Lighting, lighting, and lighting. With bad lighting, looks come out blurry or sometimes they just don't translate. In this case, the light was SO BRIGHT that most of my snaps of this look came out a completely distorted. Any photographer knows high noon light IS THE MOST UNFORGIVABLE creating harsh shadows, and etc. So sadly I can't show you all the pics of this I would love to, but I'll just let you know, I loved this look! I was vibing Anne Catherine pretty hard that day, being all neutral and nude. I also got to wear my mother's vintage neck piece. I super love it. Favorite part of the whole look!

Oh & thanks everyone for the birthday blog wishes! I have so much to share! I'm so excited!

who were we kidding?

HEY HEY kids! Whose ready to get back into action? I know I missed you all greatly as I assumed my holiday roles. I must tell you thanksgiving dinner was a blast! I think this was the best one yet! It was a intimate time with my family, which I enjoyed and I even got to go to bed early, while the rest of my family went out to get black friday deals at midnight.

I'm a bit more traditional in my black friday madness, what's the point of having it at midnight when you can have it at 4AM where everyone is full on carbs and deranged from sleep deprivations. That's were the REAL FUN begins. That's what me and my friends did anyway. I hit up all the haunts, Urban, Topshop, H&M, American Apparel, hoping to get an AWESOME SAUCE deal. I even drop some money like it ain't no thang, but then once the hysteria was over I was like "Who am I kidding? I don't need all this...stuff...."

I felt myself buying, just to buy, versus items that can accentuate my wardrobe, and said "YES THIS IS SO BIANCA" I was just buying things just to have them, and outside of UO, the sales weren't that miraculous.

SO. I RETURNED EVERYTHING, except gifts and what I actually felt i needed/wanted. And I felt SO MUCH BETTER. Plus, on saturday, I did what I should have done, went THRIFTING and found some AMAZING PIECES. (Yes, the thriftstore is having a holiday sale THROUGH the weekend, everything 50% off!)

I found that original vintage Pendleton sweater $1.45, and that Anne Klein extra soft piece? $5! Plus all those Urban shoes, five bucks each! Yes, I think I did much better, than feeling I needed to buy a bunch of not that great stuff because everyone else was. I thought it would be fun to do a little Sunday Inspo by taking my favorite thrift & black friday finds and imagining some possible looks!

I learned my lesson this year, from now on, I won't believe the hype but I'll follow my heart! ♥

duck hunt

(what im wearing: duck hunt sweater- thrifted, red short shorts - UO, hunter boots- mama, mint blouse- LUSH)

Warmer weather is disappearing, november is bringing her chilly tales with her. There has been one last hurrah for Chi-town as this last heat wave dissipates. I'm glad it was here for Halloween, I felt bad for my east coast buddies, BUT I couldn't have been more smug for myself. I think yesterday was the last day I will ever go out bare legged (with nudy tights) from now on, if I'm wearing shorts or skirts, my legs will be covered in leggings and wool tights! I'm nervous about my impending winter looks, but I'm hoping the cold doesn't put me into a fashion SLUMBER.

Anyway, I'm wearing my lucky ducky top, I got back in my "ironic hipster days." I still LOVE IT. It reminds me of one of my most hated childhood games "duck hunt" Its a fun game-- in a disturbing violent way, BUT THAT DARN DOG, UGH, WHO DOESN'T HATE HIM??? I think he's the reason why I love cats! Haha!

This post is dedicated to the 90s kid in all of us! Lets play!

ps....new sonic game coming out soon..WHAT!! :D

hey guys
