back to basics

Back to school, back to basics. House of Maryanne sent me this school house rockin vintage sweater that is such a perfect match between gamine and grandma that I can see myself wearing it all fall and winter through. I have suddenly become obsessed with classic pieces that you can mix and match with everything. And that are so undeniably comfy. This sweater is a little oversized but still super cozy. I can't wait to wear it more often as it cools down.

Over labor day weekend I watched kids somber around town with an air of sadness that summer was officially through. But being the big nerd that I am when getting dressed I was inspired by a classic collegiate look. I did have to wear a uniform until high school, so I think I'll always be sartorial inclined. Even though my school days are long gone, who says you shouldn't treat yourself to a few new pieces for back to fabulous weather? I love fall so much, I loved getting new art supplies from crayons to acrylics. Plus of course, new shoes! But my favorite thing about fall besides pumpkin spiced lattes and pumpkin bread, halloween, and bright colored leaves, is that its also my birthday! haha! On Sept 6 I will be a quarter of a century years old, or in other terms, I'll be 25 babes! House of Maryanne was so sweet to send me this early birthday gift and to collaborate on something else oh so cool that i will reveal tomorrow!

hope the title of the post gets a Lana Del Rey song stuck in your head. Anyway... regardless of it wanting to feel like spring in Chicago or not, I will still prance around barefoot in the park until the weather changes its mind.

It helps me relax. I've been so on edge lately with graduating, I really just want to curl up under the sheets, turn up some billy idol, and wash away...but other days I wanna get dressed up and run outside, it's really therapeutic. It helps put things in perspective, makes me feel small...overall, I think I'm just getting post-grad nerves....

nothing like putting on some bright blue jeans, a rad colorblocked shirt & hanging in a tree to make you smile. I feel like Refinery29 would be so proud of me for totally being on trend with my colored demin! (Hee hee) You can also get this awesome awesome shirt from Sugarlips, and be cool like me. Because I'm totally cool when I'm not having a quarter life crisis....

I'm feeling rather chill lately, I needed to push the SOPA thing to the back of my mind because I allowed it to distract me from doing what I love best~BLOGGING, plus I only have two weeks left in school this semester, so the work load is on the UP AND UP. BUT-I'm all about getting things done before the weekend. Weekends are for party partying not for mulling over a dissertation on retro futurism till sunday night :/

When I'm feeling bum or stressed, I WEAR MY FAVORITE COLORS. I'm so glad color blocking is "in" because without the "guise" of fashion, I would look strange, haha jk I look strange regardless, especially out in Roger Park last weekend. Dave and I took his little sister to a campus tour at Loyola U. Boy it brought back memories of being SO STRESSED over which college to choose, will I make any friends, etc etc. To be honest I feel like college is basically like high school, people are still the same, I was still the weird kid. BUT I LOVE BEING THE WEIRD KID. I think college does encourage you to be you though.

Regardless, It was SUCH a beautiful day on the lakefront! It has dropped down to the 30s now. I almost regret not choosing a school not closer to the lake, although when it snows, GOOD LUK!

I'm just happy I NEVER have to think about COLLEGE again for another 25+ years when my future kids are ready to accumulate some debt, till then~

PS WHOSE JELIZ OF MY AWESOME POKEMON FIND, ZOMG #nerdalert
