Its almost spring! Well for some people, spring hasn't really come to Chicago yet. In fact we're supposed to be getting another monster snow storm today! Regardless, I wanted to let you guys know I'm doing some spring cleaning, an giving away clothes I don't need. I picked out a few items I thought you guys would really love! So take a look! Including some of these faves!

work all night, sleep all day

Cat lapel pin: Datter
Jacket: Vintage Pendleton 49ers
Sweater: H&M
Blouse: Vintage
Trousers: French Connection
Socks: H&M (HOW AWESOME ARE THESE??!?!?)
Boots: Vintage

I've been dying for the opportunity to wear this Pendleton 49ers jacket but I didn't realize how much of a lumber jack I looked like until after I took these photos. But looking like a lumber jack is kind of cool! There's just something about plaid that screams christmas to me! Even if its not a red tartan. These bad boys were taken in a target parking lot yesterday, which was surprisingly warm. (and tornado-y) All my friends are wishing for snow, but I try to wish harder to cancel out their wishes...

I guess that sounds mean, but I have to commute in that snow....AND IT SUCKS...I'm not 5 anymore so having a white christmas is not necessary for me. Adult don't get "snow days"

Suburban shopping during the holidays IS THE WORST. Dave and I ventured out to Indiana yesterday for breakfast and target shopping. I've never been stared at so badly. I was surprised really! I mean with all the recent advertising featuring curly haired black and biracial women, YOU'D THINK I WOULDN'T BE THAT MUCH OF AN ANOMALY TO PEOPLES MINDS, but unfortunately for the red states I'm just a little too ethnic...I guess anything more ethnic than a taco bell is just OUT OF CONTROL

This is why I shop online, no lines, no crazy folks, no judgement. Plus, I can always find one of kind pieces like this awesome cat pin by datter...JALOUSE MUCH? YOU KNO U IS....

I still love Target, just not in the burbs....

complicated ties

Hey friends, I know I fell off the face of the earth for a moment there, but that's because I was party partying for my birthday. Now it's back to business basics, though honestly I dress pretty business-y 365 days a week. Maybe because I'm just a big ole nerd.

Despite ties being ruined in the the early millennium by a Miss Avril Lavigne, I'm ready to make things less complicated by rocking them in the way Cybil Shepard use to do in the 70s. After Madewell sent me a catalog and I saw all the ties in their fall collection, I had to admit that my love for ties has been rekindled. And honestly I truly thought I would never love them again! Plus for 3 ties for a $1 at my local thrift I can have a tie for every day of the week!

But as for wearing a tube sock on your arm, not sure about bringing that back....

Now if you'll excuse me I have a pumpkin spice latte calling my name

(ps today's the last day to enter the GIVEAWAY)

Maybe its the cool weather, maybe its those new waves music videos, maybe its the fact that I've been marathoning Paul Dano films, or that Paul Thomas Anderson premiered "The Master" at the Music Box last Thursday.

Whatever it is, all I know is that I am undoubtedly obsessed with oxblood. Call it what you like, burgundy, mauve, rose, dark red, raisin...all I know is that in the words of George Costanza "I would drape myself in it if it were socially acceptable" It looks ravishing against my skin tone and puts me at complete peace. I love it, i want to wear it everyday.

The weather has been forgiving to me enough to let me wear pants and long sleeves. I know i am constantly hearing gripes from people complaining about how cold it has become (same people who complained about the unforgiving heat wave a few weeks back) but i am in love. I'm less stressed, I'm more active, and I'm pleasantly dressed what more could a girl want. 100+ degree weather, no thanks....sweater weather...yes please and thank you!

Now excuse me while I go drink someone's milkshake

where have all the cowboys gone?

Ever since I finished school I feel my style....changing....evolving. Not necessarily to look like a cowgirl (hahah) but finding new inspiration. I watched Pretty In Pink while I was binding books, and I took inspiration from Not Duckie....not Molly, not even sexy James Spader as Steff (dear Lord, can I get a what what?) But from Annie Potts as Iona....from her predated Gaga look, to her going out with a business man look. SHE IS GREAT. I started rewatching Designing Women just to study her looks (by rewatching I mean I used to watch it with my designing mother as a kid) Then stumbled on the gem as her Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters!! WHO YOU GONNA CALL, Annie of course, so I can raid her closet. Honestly rewatching awesome things from the 80s and 90s always take a different perspective as you get older.

I think I'm also being inspired by all the Felicity I've been watching. Then there was that My So Called Life marathon on. I love MSCL but Felicity's character really hits home for me, and it takes place in a gen-x NYC. Love it mooooooore. So call this look my Annie Potts meets Felicity, meets...Pendleton..cause I will always love Pendleton, especially when it's thrifted! Talk about a lovely find! It's actually Express, but on the real, IT FITS SO WELL, ITS MARVELOUS.  This look came together to well, perfect for a movie night, the movie was ok. It started off great and...well...I like my outfit better. Let's hope these summer blockbusters don't let me down, if they do there's always Lola Versus....because Greta Gerwig is my mumblecore queen..

I was just thinking to myself that I should have called my blog "queen of dots" but then I realized I would have to wear dots ALL THE TIME. Which I mean, wouldn't be TERRIBLE because I dooo looooove polka dots. Honestly I don't feel like I wear them enough, but I feel like they are soooooo me! Like honestly, they SCREAM BIANCA!! More than any other pattern. I think part of it is associated with this favorite picture of mine from my childhood. I was wearing dots even as a tot, so they have just grown with me. SO bubbly and free, unexpected and happy, like me :)

It snowed a bit again, thank the Lord, I was worried. My mom questioned my happiness and my response was "cheap peaches!" sure it was random, but I understood what I meant, which can be better explained in my previous post.

Regardless of the snow, its still not FREEZING for chicago, so I slapped on my favorite pair of glasses and decided to surprise Dave by dressing a little girly! AND LOOK MAW, IM WEARING HEELS, remember this moment people, it may not happen again for a loooong time.

(23 skidoooo!)

so amazed

coat: vintage pendleton inspired coat
dress: american apparel

after mulling over it, I decided to sell this coat. I know, ITS MY PRINT. MY FAVORITE PRINT. I've kept it in my closet FOR TOO LONG with no wear. I love it to pieces and its just a kick ass find, BUT ALAS, I never wear it. You know how sometimes you hold on to things but no matter how you wear it, it just never....ya know? And I would rather it find a nice home than for it to collect dust in the back of my closet. I'm proud of my finds, and I want to share them not hog them!

On that note-I am updating my online closet and selling a bunch of new things! Thank you all for your support! Especially my girl Tori, who SNATCHED up that chain shirt I put up in a flash!! I am SO AMAZED because she looks soooo cute! LOVE THIS LOOK TORI ♥ ♥♥ //applause applause//

hey guys
