detoxed

 photo memo_zps19d432ee.jpg
What can I say? I've been going through a lot, from being sick, to traveling, to heartbreak, and making major life decisions. I had to step to back and re-evaluate my life, which I insist every young person does. {{Unplug and look at your life!}} I needed to reassess my goals, dreams, ambitions, and detox from all the evil vibes of the world.

So glad i did because now I feel great, renewed, refreshed, and better than ever! If you follow my Instagram you can see I've been juicing all of my meals, and getting back in touch with my vegan/vegetarian side, since I lost it after my health issues took a turn last year. Now I'm back, doing what I love to do, feeding my soul and cleansing my body. I feel so much sharper, brighter, and less indecisive about what I want in life.

In other words, I'm glad to be back blogging. Even if the hiatus was impromptu, I'm glad I took some time to step away from technology and just listen to what my body needs. I feel less stressed, my hair is stronger than ever, and I'm finally getting back into shape after believing I never could.

I just want to say thanks for waiting for me! Looking forward towards whats to come! regular schedule programming returns tomorrow! exes and oohs

onwards and upwards

I can definitely say 2012 was a growing year for me. Finally finished college, got an adult job, had surgery, went back to my love for acting at Second City. It's had its share of ups and downs, but I'm looking forward to bettering myself in the next year. I started exercising more and reading more. Two things I've been pending on doing. I'm not much for resolutions, my thoughts are if you want to change something about your life...CHANGE IT. And that's exactly what I'm doing. Not waiting for time on a clock, but a time in my heart to renew.

It was kind of amusing going through these pictures and seeing how much my style has evolved and changed. And how long my hair has grown! I can tell that my style was not as cohesive as it was last year, but I do see it coming together towards the latter have of 2012. Nevertheless, its been fun finding myself through this wonderful medium! I'm greatful for each reader who encourages me, and every comment thats lets me know I'm am as not much of an ugly duckling as I once lead myself to believe!

Here's to 2013! Thank you all for joining me into the new year! Love you lots!

you must be brave

Everything: vintage
hair: hair rules curly whip
glasses: bonlook
Bracelet: The Brave Collection

I already know how some people think of me. "You must be brave to../go out dressed like that/wear your hair grey/meet people from the interwebs" But I'm sure I made it clear I don't really hold the value of other peoples words much to a grain of salt.

I love encouragement, I care for support, all of your kind comments wake me up each day wanting to improve myself, but judgement? Not my style...

Maybe its the stress of being "an adult" but I recently discovered more grey hairs than the one I had nearly ten years ago when I turned 16. I sort of look forward to being all white (since they turn white and not grey like my grandparents), I'm in no rush to cover them up. What's wrong with aging? I'm learning to be more graceful about it. I use to close my eyes a wish "this was all over with".."next year will be better" "no, NEXT year will be better" but its really a landslide before I'm 35 with 3 screaming kids and and stressed out husband! I think I'll enjoy this next decade of my life of being a woman. Sounds weird, but when people look at me, seeing a child is nearly through, they see a grown ass woman, with bills, a job, a life! A life I tend to take care of, than worry over the small things like a few grey hair. Besides, I think I earned my stripes! Don't you?

Plus I'm wearing my bracelet from The Brave Collection, it also encourages me to stay strong. With all the suffering in the world, what's so bad about a few grey hairs? Throw on a jumpsuit and enjoy life! And perhaps support a cause or two...

hey ho hey!

I MUST TELL YOU GUYS A LIL SECRET (well it isn't much of a secret anymore) The lovely people at Facets Magazine asked me to be apart of their winter issue, and not just be a part BUT BE THE COVER GIRL! I am so honored and excited to share this issue with you guys, I hope you all enjoy it!Its weird to see people appreciate what I do, from being the weird kid to being...well still the weird kid!

Ps I drew this comic the other day, I've been out sick recently for health reason and I returned to work this week after missing a week! I was nervous! I miss making comics, I find it therapeautic, I think I'm going to get back into illustrating! :)

born this weird

Well its official guys...im a quarter of a century years old. It feels good to be 25...i feel more sure in my age, I feel like I'm taking control of my life and no longer focusing on being a people pleaser, but making myself happy. I know the phrase is going around "you couldn't pay me to be in my 20s anymore." but honestly I'm loving every moment and grateful to just be alive to experience new things and share them with you.

And is it any surprise that fashion week has kicked off on my birthday? Of course not, they did it for me ;) Thanks for hanging out guys and supporting me on this journey

hugs + kisses

i'm a big kid now

Check me out guys! Today I have some big news! I started my first "REAL JOB" hahah! Not an internship, not a student job, but a REAL JOB, for being...ya know....real! And grown up. I am officially a graphic designer in the great city of Chicago. I can't give you all the details, but it is for print works, my favorite type of design. I don't know how graphic designers became programmers, but I'm not that GREAT at back end design. And I love print! I LOVE IT! So happy that people are still for it as well.

Now that I'm all official, I've been thinking sartorially. Ya know, my outfits, I still want to be my quirky artist self but I still am considering that I am in an office setting. I'm so excited to color block. I hope Chicago won't get too hot! Anyway, last night I painted my own polyvore..heheh. I feel in LOVE with this yellow topshop blazer...so yummy, and I know yellow looks very nice on me too! Plus the rest are just items I already have, like linen shorts, high waisted trousers, my new madewell shirt and tote, my uniqlo dotted shirt, happy socks, loafers, and coffee!! Much needed coffee. I excited to learn a lot from this job, I'm also excited to learn to balance blogging and being a professional. So here goes! Wish me luck, and good luck to all the post-grads on their search!

ps...i got that madewell sweater listed below..haha! ITS AWESOME (thx to all who came to the event!! ♥)

Since my hair has been the topic of discussion recently, I thought I'd share this HILARIOUS picture of me from when I was...2-3? I took this for a design project about my love for food. It makes more sense in context...haha. Look at all that hair! My mom told me that when she was pregnant she prayed and praaaayed that she'd have a little girl with LOTS of hair to play with...well TADA, but let's just say that she's stop "playing" with it when I turned 11...and my official hair journey started there....from relaxers to buzz cuts I had it all. But I am always grateful that my mom spent all that time praying for me to have all this....hair ♥

this is why my back hurts

After reading Julia Topaz's "whats really in my bag" I LITERALLY LOL'd, it was brilliant and cheeky and far from the classic organized perfection of what's really in a woman's bag. Because let's get real ladies, we all have strange receipts, miscellaneous cough drops, and free samples from Sephora. And if you're like me, you pack for EMERGENCIES carrying every necessity possible needed. Only thing missing from this picture is my Wakatsuki ♥ Chinatsu make up bag and Nikon D50.

Also note that I am very much a tote bag girl. Perhaps it stems from me being a practical college student. I've never been a "GIRLY GIRL" in fact 99% of my friends are male, and I didn't start carrying a purse until I was a senior in high school. It has always been a belabored process with my mother for me to "be a woman" but pfffft, purses can't carry sketchbooks, comic books, cameras AND ALL THE THINGS I NEED...Though I do fancy a cute tote bag (my favorite being my Paul & Joe bag.) And every once and a while I'll carry a classic Chanel ;) THOUGH TO BE CLEAR, not much a fan of backpack either, though they are aesthetically pleases, being hippy I don't like to carry a lot of things in my pockets, NOR do I like to reach behing myself to grab my wallet ALL DAY. Plus they've yet to make a backpack for women with....junk in zee trunk, so backpack tend to hover over my derriere, which is rather uncomfortable.

Contents: (organized by area)
1. My non Mac Pro, HP...yes I AM a graphic designer, and born in the 80s....
2. Moleskin & French Milk comic by Lucy Knisley (AWESOME daily diary about an american in paris)

4. An accumulation of ALL the handouts I've received in ALL my classes, plus another sketchbook, and notebook.
5. Marc Jacobs wallet, NON iphone (htc...windows phone...bleh)
6. Primsacolors, pens, a spoon....
7. Bank Statements, reciepts, coupons, bills, keys (with a benny's (high end liquor store) and a dick blick's (art store) member's card (CAUSE IM A BALLIN ART STUDENT))
8.2 packs of gum (why..) 2 bottles of excedrin (why..??) two bottles of lotion (why..???!) + a loose piece of trident and a hair clip
9. skeleton gloves...
10. phone charger, "jesus saves" change holder (note loose change elsewhere, I actually use this to hold my "lady products"), red headband/earmuff, glasses case, and another point and shoot camera.

*note that a carry a lot of doubles...:/

see...this is why, my back hurts...after doing this, I immediately cleaned out my bag..HAH!

showroom

one of my goals while I was on break from school was to get my room together. IT NEEDED IT. I rearranged all my furniture to give it more of that "showroom" appeal. I wanted to make it easier and 'more fun' to get dressed in the morning. I wanted to be inspired by all my clothes and such, and I guess I felt like it would be cool to live in a boutique almost (haha)

Of course I am also surrounded by things that inspire me like my paintings (I did most of those, like the big bunny one) and japanese fashion magazines. I also have funny tchotchkes here and there given to me as gifts from my mother and brothers.

Changes I made: got a new bookshelf just for displaying shoes, got a clothing rack to laying out my favorite "go to" pieces, a bracelet display for my watches. I like a messy order. I don't like perfect order nor do I like insanity. I like that cozy lived in feeling, so let's say my room reflects a vintage boutique!

Thanks for coming over ;)
